Trees and grasses as a raw material for car tires production

Scientists from the University of Minnesota have found a way to produce car tires from trees and grass. Yes, it may seems imposible but actually the efficiency of the catalytic process was 90 percent.

The article is very interesting because it shows that it’s possible to obtain products from biomass, however, we must take into account how sustainable it is, because yes, a new product (theoretically biodegradable) that could be effective in replacing the raw material used to make tires has been found, it is not yet known what the impact might be, in terms of the quantity of raw material to be used and its management after it has reached its useful life.

Further studies need to be done in order to analyze the economical, social and environmental impact of such renewable product.
